Majestic ruin

It is possible to assume that at some point the fortress was temporarily abandoned, and the Arabs of the surrounding villages began to use it as a quarry. But then the Turkish government woke up and stopped the arbitrariness, forcing the poor villagers to restore what had been destroyed, at least partially.
