Under the farthest mountains, the city of Trondheim is hidden in a haze. The picture was taken from the battery place. At the left bottom corner of the photo, the houses of the village of Austrott are visible.
The battery was in service until 1953, after that it was moved to the reserve. Then, due to the explosive development of rocket technology, it was declared obsolete and in 1968 it was withdrawn from the service. Some conservation work were carried out here until 1977, but after it been completely abandoned for the next 13 years. They say that the turret bearing races are severely deformed due to its immobility, which makes impossible to turn the turret.
