It was possible to collect the money necessary for the restoration and museumification of the battery from various foundations and individuals within a year and a half and, finally, Fort Austrott was opened as a museum in 1991. The Fjell battery near Bergen, where a similar turret was installed, was much less fortunate - it was scarped in the late 1960s and now only a huge concrete hole in the rocks is offered to the attention of visitors.
Only the concrete foundations of the barracks are remained, the wooden buildings disappeared without a trace.
