Machine gun pillbox

Concrete firing point for a heavy machine gun is on the photo. In the background is the entrance to another one is seen. Anti-landing defense on the island was built by Finns in 1941-43. During the Winter War, they had to defend this island without any fortifications. The Finns took into account the past experience, the current fortifications allow them to cover the approaches to the island with continuous machine-gun's and artillery fire.
