When the Finns left, they burned down the barracks (apparently the customs building) and blew up the ammunition depot. By 9 AM the island of Kivema was occupied by two Soviet battalions, after which the island began to be subjected to constant shelling by Finnish artillery and aviation. In those days, there were no trenches and shelters on the island. The photo shows the remains of wooden machine-gun mounting.
