In 1960 the Swedish military begun modernization of coastal artillery and launched a program named ERSTA or Ersättning Tungt Artilleri (replacing heavy artillery). 120 mm artillery automatic 12/70 system with with protection against nuclear and chemical weapons was developed. Six 3-gun batteries of the first series were installed in the 1970s and 80s. One of them was built here.
Turret #3 of Landsort battery is on the photo. In the background the camouflage cover for the gun's barrel is seen. It can mask the thermal radiation of the gun. The gun has the water cooling system, its pipes are seen on the photo.
