Prison landscape

Generally speaking, a provincial royal prison was established here back in 1634. 2-3 dozen prisoners were kept in the castle, awaiting sentences and being sent to the place where they were serving their sentences. After 1808, the fortress combined a prison and a military base. In 1841, the correctional labor institution 'Kronoborg' was established (Kronoborg is the ancient name of the castle).
