In 1968, an automatic gas lamp was installed at the lighthouse and the need for a constant presence of a keeper at the lighthouse disappeared. In the next modernization, an electric lamp powered by a wind generator was installed on the island. In the absence of people, the island was invaded by vandals from the mainland, who turned the island into a garbage dump and a place for drinking (a situation like we have at the Kronstadt forts).
