Germans troops from Baltic division assisting the "white" Finns in Civil War with "red" Finns landed just at this place in 1918. The short, but bloody Civil war broken out and communism in Finland was not established, and the country was saved from all attendant consequences (collectivization, starvation, concentration camps and etc.)
This monument was erected in 1921 and there was inscription on it "German troops landed on Hanko April 3, 1918, to help our fight for freedom"
