Memorial survived during Soviet leasing of the territory for the naval base because Nazi Germany was an ally of Soviet Union in that time. In june 1941 it was demolished. In 1943 it was restored by Finns, but in 1945 dismantled again. At least it was restored in 1960 with new inscription "For our "For our freedom". That's story...
