In 1941, the island was part of the sector Hiitonen (3rd Battalion, 4 Regiment, 4 th Brigade of the coastal defense, commander - major. K. Mooring). Phone cable connected the island with battery at Oro island HQ at Rosala. Finnish spotters left the island 16 June 1941, shortly before the outbreak of hostilities. It is reported that the observation tower was mined and it was demolished charge probably detonated because of Soviet shells.
