Ancient walls
The remains of an ancient city wall from the Hasmonean period are seen just under my feet in the direction of a tower with a minaret. This is the so-called 'first wall' built in the 2nd century BC (see Josephus, 'The Jewish War'). This is the most ancient fortification of all presented on this site.
