Ancient walls

The city of Jebus was located on the narrow Ophel mountain range surrounded on three sides by the deep valleys of Kudron and Tyropeon (now filled in). Despite the presence of higher hills around - Moria, Scopus, etc., the city was at that time well protected both by nature and by artificial fortification, and also had a source of water on the eastern slope of Ophel Hill.
