It looks like a small fortress. It was built in 1910 by the Latin Patriarchate over the place where, according to Catholic legend, the mother of Jesus died. Previously, there was a Byzantine basilica built in 415, which was destroyed and rebuilt many times in subsequent years. Nearby was the house of John the Theologian, the Upper Room of the Last Supper (somewhere under the domes), as well as the grave of King David (just to the left of the temple). So the concentration of holy places is off the charts. This is Jerusalem!
