The southern wall of the Temple Mount with the Al-Aqsa Mosque or Al-Masjid el-Aqsa. This is the third most important mosque in Islam. It was founded by Caliph Umar in the late 630s as a small house of prayer. It was destroyed several times by earthquakes and rebuilt again. It acquired its current appearance in 1035. In the background is the archaeological park of the Western Wall is seen.
