Lion Gate

It also known as Sheep Gate, St. Stephen's Gate, Bab Sittti Mariam (St. Mary's Gate). They were built in 1538-39 by the Ottoman Turks under Suleiman the Magnificent. This is the only open gate in the eastern part of the Old City. They lead to the Muslim Quarter on Via Dolorosa (Way of the Cross) street.
