Embrasures of the third tier of the fortress wall

The picture shows two types of embrasures: direct for shooting forward, and oblique at the gallery floor level for shooting down to the base of the wall. It should be noted that the corner towers protrude significantly beyond the wall line and additionally flank the approaches to the fortress with their loopholes. Thus, the builders of the fortress sought to minimize the space of 'dead zones' near the walls of the fortress.
