In 1937, the director of the museum and several of his employees were suspended from work for formalism in organizing anti-religious propaganda and political mistakes. The director was repressed. The monastery archive was taken from the monastery to Leningrad - 4500 kg of old handwritten materials (measured in kilograms!). Numerous non-core exhibits - icons, church utensils, etc. were 'written off' (demolished).
