This battery was built in 1902-1908. Is was designed to fit eight 11-inch mortars. Is construction differs from the mortar battery #1 with wider spacing of emplacements, spanning more spacious casemates, and the fact that it traverses are additionally protected with earthen mounds on their west side. Every second traverse has an observation post with a metal ladder to climb. The rear of the battery is covered by an earthen rampart (seen at right of the photo).
