'Excellent naval officer who knows and loves seamanship. When sending service he is very strict and demanding, large pedant' - that was a certification of Robert Viren. From 1909 to 1917 he was the chief commander of the port of Kronstadt and the military governor here. March 1, 1917 a crowd of sailors gathered at the door of his house. He went out to them and routinely ordered 'Attention!', but they only laughed. He was led by the Khjazheskaya street (Communist str now) to Yakornaya Square and was bayoneted near dock's ravine and thrown down. Two weeks later his relatives buried him in the Lutheran cemetery. In the 1940s the grave was lost. In the picture just a memorial sign is seen.
