The bridge was named so because of big rope manufacturing nearby. The bridge is curious by miraculously preserved authentic pavement of iron plates (same pavement can be seen at Yakornaya Square, bat that's cheap copy of 1970s). The pavement was arranged in 1860 on the model of the cast-iron examples of engineer Knapp in New York. Plates were cast in Kronstadt steamship factory on the American model.
In the background the building of the Mashinnaya (Mashine) School.
