"Farewell RIF!", Fort Riff (Kronstadt: Kotlin isl.)

"Farewell RIF!"

"Farewell RIF!"

These are so called dembel inscriptions. Soldiers (and sailors too) in the end of their service must leave a memory of himself somehow. The upper inscription dated 1940, but there are more in the same style and the same paint: DMB 1962. Apparently in 1940 is the year of birth. "Union bastards and their halves" and "Farewell RIF!" they saying.
