In the north-east of the Western Palace are the ruins of the not a big church of the Byzantine period 5-6 AD. Its walls were built with stones of old Herod's buildings, apparently. Interestingly, the church has a baptistery, ie baptisms were held here. This ruins are related to so called Lavra Marda 580-600 AD, which was mentioned in the writings of rev. John Moschus.
