This synagogue is one of the oldest in the world. It was built into the wall near the North Palace. In the old days the room was not used for worship, but as a meeting place for community, discussion of pressing issues, read the sacred books, etc. By the way, during its excavation fragments of manuscripts were found, handwriting which was coincided with the handwriting on some of the scrolls from Qumran. The synagogue was built by the rebels zealots, and in the days of Herod here, according to some sources, was a stable.
