Alekseevskaya (White) tower

The last of the surviving towers of the Okolny city of Novgorod. This three-tier tower was erected in 1582 - 1584 and in 1657 it was whitewashed and began to be called as 'White'. In the foreground garbage, gradually deposited to the rich cultural layer, which in this city reaches a thickness up to 8 meters or more and, accordingly, is constantly increasing.
