It was first commemorated in 1437 (they say it fell into the Volkhov along with the fortress wall). It was restored in 1439, rebuilt in the 17th century in connection with the installation of new bells brought from Moscow. What we see in the picture is a building of that time with a 19th century roof. It was pretty damaged during the war from shells and aerial bombs, but was restored and is still pleasing to the eye.
