Fort Citadel was one of the first fort of Kronstadt, which was rebuilt in stone. The project was made by Louis Bartholomew Carbonier (1770 - 1836), director of the construction department of the Naval Department. The new fort consisted of a two-tier central tower (guns were installed in two tiers, the lower one - casemated, the upper one - open) and two semi-towers connected with central tower by stone curtains. The lower tier was faced with granite blocks, the parapet - with rubble stone (the brick floor on top - additions of the late 19th, early 20th centuries). In the distance you can see Kronshlot - the very first fort of the Kronstadt fortress.
