The fort was quickly restored and expanded even more in the 1830s. And in 1844, according to the project of the architect Döstrem, they began to rebuild the fort in stone. During the Crimean War of 1853-56, the unfinished fort was armed with 170 guns. Then the fort was named Paul I. Construction was completed after the war in 1859. The fort had more than 200 guns in its casemates and was the most powerful constructions of the Kronstadt fortress.
