The fort was disarmed in 1896, after that it was used as a mine depot - about 30 thousand pieces of sea mines were located in its extensive casemates. The fort was blown up twice, the first - in 1919, shortly before the uprising on Krasnaya Gorka Fort, as a prearranged signal for the beginning of the rebellion.
