Extremist and terrorist Nikolai Morozov (Cell No. 4) spent 21 years in this cell. He studied several languages, read a lot, especially scientific works on physics, chemistry and philosophy, wrote more than 20 volumes of works on various fields of knowledge, and gave scientific lectures to his fellow sufferers. He was released in the memorable year 1905. Nowadays, a village on the opposite bank of the Neva is named after him. He called the time spent here “stopped time” and always subtracted this period from his age.
