Artillery of Fort Siaro

Two ship turrets of the battleship of the coastal defense “Svea” built in 1886 (Lindholmen shipyard in Gothenburg) are the main caliber of the fort. This ship with a displacement of 3200 tons had a length of 75.5 m and a draft of 5 m. The thickness of the armor belt of the battleship was 29 cm. Armament: 10 10-inch guns in two-gun turrets and 6 6-inch in single-gun turrets. Before the First World War “Svea” was scrapped, 10-inch guns were installed at the Ellenabbs fort of Karlskrona fortress and eventually were cut into scrap metal in 1936.
