These are kinds of things that happen here in St. Petersburg from time to time. The newly built city was flooded just three months after its founding in 1703. And in 1708, Peter I wrote to Menshikov “...they rode freely in boats around the city and on the other side of the street... And it was very comforting to see that people were sitting on the roofs and on the trees, as if during a Bible flood...”
