Fortifications
The first fortifications on the island have appeared during the Crimean War, after that defenses were strengthened in 1863, during the Polish uprising, when the Russian relationship with Europe once again strained to the limit. In the picture the battery №4 traverse №4. Battery had 3 6-inch 190 pood gun.
