According to the original plan, all residential premises of the island should have been concentrated within a closed line of fortifications. A dozen stone barracks were to form 4 closed squares. Of all the plans, only three buildings were finished by 1761. The picture shows one of these barrack. The building was re-plastered in 1798, in 1830 - overhauled. Under the Russians, there were officers' apartments and, at one time, a hospital.
