Piece of iron

In the middle of the redoubt, as already mentioned, there is a granite hill, into which brick casemates and cellars are inserted. In the foreground there is an iron pin of an unclear purpose, driven into the mass of granite. It is reported that the straits, if necessary, could be additionally blocked with metal chains. Perhaps this is an pin for attaching these chains?
