Seaplane slip, Turkinsaari island (Trongsund)

Seaplane slip

Seaplane slip

In the second half of the 1920s Finland began to actively develop hydro-aviation because there are thousands of lakes in the country, and each lake is a ready airfield in winter and summer. The Turkinsaari airbase was opened in 1926. The picture shows a huge concrete slipway for launching aircraft from a colossal hangar for 15 winged aircraft, wich was near the slip. There were two slipways built on the island.
