Zarinsky fortifications, that should be called them, because they are named so in honor of Vice Admiral Apolinarius Zarin (1805 - 1872), who with the rank of Rear Admiral, commanded the sea and land forces of the Trongsund position in the 1860s just during the construction of these fortifications. The picture shows an old pier on the island of Ravansaari built in 1870.
