)Optical telegraph was invented by Abraham Edelcranz in 1794. It consists of a "terminal" and the mast with alarm device, controlled by the tension of wires. Bitrate - 10 characters per min. During the Finnish War of 1808-9 years such systems operated over all the coast of central Sweden, and even on Aland islands.
