On July 15-16, units of the 142nd Rifle Division of Soviet Army advanced in this area in the direction of Käkisalmi. VT-line already had been broken by that time, so the Finns began a systematic retreat north to Suvanto-Järvi, waging local battles, setting up ambushes, mining roads and destroying bridges.
