General Totleben arrived to St.Petersburg and to Vyborg right from besieged Sevastopol. He was the chief engineer during the construction of Sevastopol's fortifications. Crimea War experience was a big deal during Batareinaya Gora fortifications construction. Generals always used to prepare the army and the country for the war which over.
