Bastion Pancerlaks

The bastion was erected in 1579-1580 and was as a part Gornverk fortifications (Horned Fortress). It was designed by fortifier Johan de Messiah and defended Vyborg's approaches from the south. The bastion has 6 artillery casemates in three floors on it's flanks, plus numerous guns on it's valang. It was badly damaged in the Northern War - Russian battery of 20 guns was against it. The bastion was rebuilt in 1710s.
